Cincinnati, OH (prHWY.com) March 21, 2013 - James Gerdsen is proud to announce that his employees rose to his challenge and raised over $50,000 for Habitat for Humanity. Last summer, James Gerdsen, the President and CEO of Apollo heating and cooling, created an employee incentive program called True Grit. It rewarded his employees and their families for volunteering at Habitat for Humanity.
"I chose Habitat for Humanity because of what they stand for. They assist families in rebuilding their lives and teaching them responsibility by working for what you want. They don't just give them a house. The program requires the families to help build their house and take classes on fiscal responsibility. It helps to better families and neighborhoods through reform and education," explains James Gerdsen. He goes on to say, "There are many similarities between what I have done with my company and the Habitat for Humanity program. I completely reorganized and reeducated my workforce. Now my company sees a consistent increase in profits. If the concept worked for my business' ecosystem, why wouldn't it work for a community?"

Apollo and James Gerdsen have always been involved in Habitat for Humanity. They donate the heating and cooling systems to most of the homes they work on. James Gerdsen has become more involved with the program, and he created the True Grit employee contest to get more of the community involved. Since then, James Gerdsen has taken on a leadership role to help inspire others. He is an advocate of self sufficiency within a community.

"A community should rely on its members to help rebuild and strengthen its economy instead of a larger entity such as the U.S. Government," remarked James Gerdsen. "The response time to disasters or assisting those in need is much more rapid and a larger portion of the donated money goes directly to helping others. Building those up around you makes them into productive members of a society, who then reinvest back into the community. It creates a strong local economy that is less affected by national trends."

Working to build a stronger community is paying off. James Gerdsen is planning to hire four more employees later this year.
