Law Offices of Dan T. MatrafajloUrges Action After Increase in Pedestrian Fatalities in New Jersey
Exceeding Maximum Speed (NJSA 39:4-98) Speeding as defined in NJSA 39:4-98 is one of the traffic violations that New Jersey traffic ticket attorneys see most often.

NEW JERSEY (March 18, 2013) - An increase in reports of pedestrian traffic accident deaths in New Jersey last year prompted accident lawyer Dan T. Matrafajlo to urge drivers to slow down and for authorities to take measures to reverse this trend.
"The negligent operation of our vehicles, such as speeding, results in horrible pedestrian knockdown accidents that can easily be avoided," said Matrafajlo, founder of Law Offices of Dan T. Matrafjlo. "Everyone, regardless of what mode of transportation they are using, must follow the law and the police must enforce these laws."
According to a preliminary report from the New Jersey State Police, 165 pedestrians died in car accidents in 2012, an increase from the 143 in 2011. The report further stated that in 2012, pedestrians accounted for 28 percent of fatal crash victims in New Jersey, an increase from the 23 percent in 2011.
"There is no doubt that the majority of cars on New Jersey roads speed on a daily basis," said Matrafajlo. "But what is alarming is the number of New Jersey speeding tickets issued as compared to the number of vehicles speeding."
Matrafajlo went on to state that if there is a crackdown of aggressive driving and speeding, it could drastically reduce the number of car accidents and pedestrian traffic accident related deaths.
According to the National Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in the country as a whole, a total of 4,432 pedestrians were killed in 2011, accounting for 14 percent of all traffic fatalities. The report further stated that a pedestrian is killed every two hours and injured every eight minutes in a car crash somewhere in the United States.
The NHTSA reported that speeding remains as one of the most prevalent factors contributing to car accidents. The report further noted that speeding reduces a driver's ability to steer safely around objects and respond to hazards on the road.
"No one likes getting New Jersey speeding tickets, but this seems to be the only way to reduce car accidents and pedestrian traffic accident deaths," stated Matrafajlo.
