Changing it Up - Getting Out of Your Comfort Zone

I think it's fair to say we are all ruled in some way by very ingrained habits . . . ones that keep us in our own personal comfort zones.

Manitou Springs, CO (prHWY.com) March 22, 2013 - I think it's fair to say we are all ruled in some way by very ingrained habits . . . ones that keep us in our own personal comfort zones. While we feel comfortable and 'safe' in our zones, it can also create a mental barrier that limits our true success.

As we head into March - with much of 2013 still ahead of us - let's ask ourselves where we can focus to step out of that comfortable zone to transform and grow our home staging businesses in new successful ways! It's also worth remembering that each time we step outside the zone, we expand our rewards!
A few tips in stepping out and stepping UP!

Breaking it down - Don't try to tackle all of your fears at once! I've heard so many fabulous stagers say they have an incredible fear of public speaking and are not comfortable doing real estate presentations. Rather than tackle an entire office of real estate agents, how about inviting one or two out for coffee and share with them your staging successes and how you can help them? A simple presentation with great before and after pictures in a binder (along with your APSD stats) provides a good storyline to talk to and keeps the focus on your presentation. Once you are comfortable in a smaller setting, you'll be ready to conquer more!
Where's my safety net??? As home stagers, we think we need to 'go it alone' in this business and that is certainly far from the truth! Find a mentor within your home staging association to chat with on a monthly basis and exchange ideas to help one another's business. Reach out to other local home stagers in your area. I feel very blessed to be in an area where other stagers and myself DO get together on occasion to share and learn. They are an amazing resource if I find I run into an unusual situation, need advice or just some upbeat encouragement! Working with others in the industry or just keeping in touch with another staging buddy is a great support system! Active Rain, Linked In and Ning are a few great places to find support.

It's a Jungle Out there Lions, Tigers and Bears? Yep - you'll encounter them along the way as you build your Home Staging Business . Remember that YOU are the home staging expert and have so much to offer your clients in getting their homes sold quickly and for top dollar. Have a plan and be prepared. Remember the adage 'You don't plan to fail, you fail to plan.' There is incredible truth to that when it comes to running a business. Stepping outside of the 'zone' with a plan in place makes it a solid, confident and successful experience!
