DALAS, TX (prHWY.com) March 24, 2013 - DALLAS, TX - Due to the tremendous success of their son Jonathan Gray, a starting running back at the University of Texas who has managed to break numerous records on the football field while staying humble, parents James and Tonya Gray are in high demand for parental advice. One of the most celebrated high school football players in the state of Texas, Gray was an athletic hopeful from the 7th grade when his passion for the sport fully emerged. "We never pushed him. We just encouraged him to work hard in life in general and pursue the accomplishments he wanted to pursue on his own." said James who he, himself is the second leading all-time rusher at Texas Tech University.

Using faith as their ultimate guideline for raising their impressive son the couple established early on in his success that he was more than a football player. He was Jonathan Gray the person. They happily supported his efforts in all things as he continued to give himself to obedience, humility and a team spirit. These are the principles that both Tonya and James learned in their own childhoods both being raised by single mothers and supportive extended family. Identifying that "it takes a village" the duo centered their lives on old-school parenting keeping discipline as a tool that worked effectively with consistency. "We told Jonathan that everything he did at school and on the field is his job and when he comes home he has to leave it there." said Tonya. "We didn't talk about football at home. And I never said anything bad about his coaches even if I didn't agree with their tactics. We let Jonathan know that if he was having a problem it was his to work out with his coaching staff." added James. This strong sense of ownership has surely proved to build an impressive son, athlete and teammate.

On the Performance in the Sweet Spot podcast the topics James and Tonya discuss are: how keeping the bond between father and son is more important than offering ongoing coaching advice, how they've kept their son's ego in check as recruiters from around the nation strive to sign him to contracts, the importance of family and a strong relationship with God for personal grounding, as well as how to parentally approach peer pressure and society's mixed messages.

Performance in the Sweet Spot offers an online community talk show that is both informational and motivational. It provides encouragement and direction for parents and youth alike looking to pursue excellence and enjoy the benefits of that success. The site was launched in January by Founder, Chuck Quarles.
