Long-awaited Australia visa reform
Why should there be an age limit and restriction in Australian working visa? This is the question that multiple parties have wondered a few years back, and still wondering until now.

As you may already know, the Australia working visa is only eligible for those aged 18 to 30 whom are interested in a working holiday of up to 12 months. Basically, the idea is to plan early and by whatever means necessary, be in Australia for a working holiday between those ages. So, to dear baby boomers, you can wave farewell to that dream of yours if it includes a holiday and short-term work in Australia. This is exactly the issue raised in year 2008 by Queensland Tourism Minister Desley Boyle - slamming the door shut in the face of baby boomers. In addition to that, she added that Australia's great untapped resources are those aged 30 onwards.
A more recent case in 2012, Western Australia Tourism Minister Kim Hames urged Australian immigration to extend the working holiday maker visa to 2 years besides relaxing the restriction which limits visa-holders to 6 months per job. While the mining boom is doing well, the staffs are drawn out of hospitality and tourism. After so many years of harping on the same string - and no changes made - we are finally able to see some changes this year. Tourism bodies have urged the government to revamp the working holiday visa system in order to bring the sector up a notch. Given an estimated 56 000 vacant job positions, the need for additional foreigners to work here has finally dawned on the government. Both the issue of upper age limit and the length of stay will be tackled.
According to the former chairman of Australian Tourism Commission, these changes will be able to attract more foreign backpackers coming on Australian working visa. The foreign students coming on Australian working holiday visas are also educated, hard-working and reliable. They are willing to do all type odd jobs such as picking bananas, making beds and sweeping. Jobs that young Aussies are not ready to do. Well, let's just cross our fingers and hope that Australia implements these changes fast - and that those coming on Australia working visa are really willing to do jobs as odd as picking bananas.
