Ahmedabad, India (prHWY.com) March 28, 2013 - A delightful array of innovative collections from both established and up and coming Indian designers was presented over the past five days at India's premium fashion and trade event Lakme Fashion Week, which has entered into its second decade now.

Fibre2fashion has covered these striking demonstrations of avant-garde creations, by the talented brigade of Indian sartorialists, both in terms of special coverage as well as day to day news. Here is a summarised gist, focusing on the major highlights, of the five-day-long fashion extravaganza.

National Institute of Fashion Technology graduate Narendra Kumar and Hyderabad-based designer Asmita Marwa featured their latest Summer/Resort 2013 lines on the opening day of LFW. Kumar sent a strong social message, focusing on the growing aspirations of the Indian youth versus policy makers, through his collection which featured dresses skirts, jackets, trousers and sportswear. Whereas Marwa preferred to concentrate solely on the jet setting women of modern era for her designs that included delicately printed fitted dresses, checked handloom scarves, wrap short jackets, collage skirts and brown net pin-dotted short kaftans.

The second day was all about national and international celebrity designers--be it Bollywood's favourite Rocky S or Hollywood's Red Carpet couturier Naeem Khan--onlookers at the event savoured the rare opportunity of viewing their ultra-glam collections from up and close. Primarily based on the dark sombre tone of black, Rocky's opulently lavish extravagant creations included gowns, midis and minis made of silk, net and lace. Exhibiting his in-depth knowledge of embroidery and textiles, Khan's sensuous dresses, sophisticated gowns and amazingly crafted separates featured his signature impeccable cuts, finishes and tailoring.

Day three of LFW was a celebration of contrasts, where Bhairavi Jaikishan portrayed romantic, classic feminine silhouettes with a generous dose of youthful charms, while designer Arjun Khanna presented a racy wardrobe for modern fashionable males. Jaikishan's Paradise Island collection featured a luxurious range of lehengas, sarees and festive kurtas, richly embellished with gold, silver, sequins, crystals and pearls.
