Stillwater, MN (prHWY.com) February 12, 2020 - Stillwater, MN, December 4th, 2019-- SelfEco Compostable Drinkware is a United States made, eco-friendly, premium line of 100% compostable PLA caterware products developed to provide alternative solutions to the waste discarded from single use products often used in the food service industries like restaurants, caterers and private events throughout the world. All SelfEco products are tree-free, petroleum-free, BPA-free, and landfill-free.

Instead of the traditional single use disposable cups on the market, SelfEco's Compostable Drinkware is produced using a biopolymer called PLA (polylactic acid). PLA is made from starchy renewable plants like corn and sugar beets grown right here in the United States. Starch from these materials are processed into a biopolymer that looks, acts, and performs like its traditional, harmful cousin: petroleum-based plastics.
Self Eco sources all of its food-safe PLA Ingeo™ Bioplastic from Natureworks, LLC. Natureworks is the first to offer a family of commercially available biopolymers derived from 100 percent annually renewable resources with cost and performance that compete with petroleum-based packaging materials and fibers. Natureworks applies their unique technology to the processing of natural plant sugars to create the proprietary polylactide polymer marketed under the Ingeo™ brand name.

Luckily, PLA performs much like traditional plastics, but with the crucial benefit of being 100% compostable in commercial compost facilities. Self Eco uses PLA because it is versatile, compostable, and best of all, not petroleum-based. All of their products, even compostable cutlery is made from PLA. In cutlery, the formulation of PLA is rigid and durable -- perfect for high-strength needs and of course, commercial composting! The use of PLA provides an improved environmental footprint by reducing greenhouse gases, requiring less fossil fuels and offering more post consumer and commercial disposal options.
Most plastics are derived from petroleum, or oil. Oil is our most valuable resource in many ways. It's also a resource that comes with a lot of negative environmental and social impacts. Self Eco's PLA derived products give consumers the option of products made from renewable resources, like plants instead of oil. Plants can be grown again and again, unlike oil which is nonrenewable. Composting is an opportunity to divert waste that would otherwise be landfilled -- and by composting, you create valuable nutrients in the soil so that plants can grow again.
About us: SelfEco was created by Danny Mishek a 3rd generation manufacturer. The intention was to capitalize on past knowledge and technology to produce products that are Earth-friendly and sustainable. SelfEco's ultimate goal is to create things differently than previous generations. We want to be aware of our environment and the precious gifts that Earth supplies us with. To mindfully manufacture with the intent to compost, recycle or reuse our products gives us great pride.
These Sustainable materials have been around for years, but very few people, including manufacturers, have made it a priority to creatively produce and sell products in a mainstream fashion. SelfEco is different and is proud to be a leader in the use of plant-based materials for all of our products. Being green is no longer a thought of the past. It is here today and will be here tomorrow.
SelfEco has incorporated traditional manufacturing with forward thinking and processing to create a revolution in how green products are purchased, utilized and disposed of.
