Tie Dye Tallit: A Colorful Proposition for Jewish Prayer
(Detroit, Michigan- June 14, 2011)- A new business called Tie Dayenu has
just opened its "virtual" doors on the internet. Tie Dayenu is the
brainchild of Robert H. Bardach, PhD., an educator with over 15 years in
Middle and High School teaching and administrative work environments. For
the past 3 years Dr. Bardach has been a Division Head at the Hillel Day
School of Metropolitan Detroit and has been working with teens as they
learn and grow Jewishly. As a long-time tie dye hobbyist, Dr. Bardach
noticed that more and more of his students were wearing clothing with
traditional tie-dye designs. He began to wonder if his passion for the
art of tie-dye (and other fabric dye techniques) could be combined with
his passion for Jewish spiritual growth and began to research the laws of
Kashrut (Jewish Law) and Tallit. Tallit are the shawls with tassels
(Tzit-tzit) on 4 corners traditionally worn during Jewish prayer services.
Earlier in the year he approached several Rabbis who offered insight into
the laws and traditions involved with making Tallit, and was assured that
his designs all followed Kashrut according to traditional practice.
Dr. Bardach's design focus is on combining the richness and vibrancy of
bright colors and dynamic patters commonly associated with the art of
fabric dying with the beauty and tradition of Jewish prayer. Tie Dayenu
offers Tallit in wool, silk, cotton, devore fabrics, bamboo, hemp and even
pineapple tree fiber. Only the highest quality dyes are used in the
creation of these Tallitim which allows for truly amazing work to be
produced. A number of Dr. Bardach's students are already wearing Tallit
produced by Tie Dayenu and the response from the student body has been
overwhelmingly positive.
Tie Dayenu is located on the internet at www.tiedayenu.com and allows its
customers to custom design their own Tallit in 4 steps. The consumer
identifies the size of the Tallit desired, picks the fabric, selects the
colors, and ultimately decides on the pattern to be produced. According
to Dr. Bardach, this level of personalization is vital as it allows the
consumer to connect to their own spiritual journey and experience the
Mitzvah of wearing Tallit as a reflection of their relationship to God.
Tie Dayenu is a fully functioning on-line store which accepts all major
credit cards. For additional information please contact Dr. Rob Bardach
