Cherry Hill Porsche, your Philly Porsche dealership, is sharing news about the Boxster E. Three prototypes of this battery-powered vehicle were tested at Berlin's Michelin Challenge Bibendum in May. Used Porsche owners might be excited to know that these Boxster E prototypes can perform like sports cars.

The most powerful of the three Boxster E prototypes utilizes two electric motors. The two motors create an all-wheel-drive vehicle because one motor runs the front wheels while the other runs the rear wheels. These motors together generate 241 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. According to Porsche, this vehicle has the same driving dynamics as the Boxster S. This two-motor Boxster E can accelerate from zero to sixty in 5.3 seconds and has an electronically limited maximum speed of 124 mph.
The other two Boxster E prototypes each have a single electric motor that runs the rear wheels. The single motor produces 121 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque. These cars can go from zero to sixty mph in just under 9.8 seconds and have a top speed that is limited to 93 mph.

All three of the Boxster E prototypes use a 29kWh lithium-ion battery pack. These batteries last about 107 miles and take about nine hours to recharge using a standard household plug. The testing of the prototypes at the Challenge Bibendum is part of a large-scale government trial.
