Cyber-attackers Hijack Sony Music Ireland Website, Post False News
Recently, cyber-attackers defaced the website of Sony Music Ireland and planted fake stories.

Security professionals of the company are investigating the incident. The website is disabled and is redirecting visitors to Sony Music Ireland's Facebook page. The latest incident follows a recent hijacking of the Twitter account of Fox News Politics. A cyber-attack group called "Script Kiddie" hijacked the microblogging account of the News sites on the Fourth of July, and posted the assassination news of United States (U.S) President Obama. Earlier, attackers posted a fake story on PBS News blog claiming that singer Tupac Shakur, who died 15 years back, is alive and they spotted him in New Zealand.
Sony has been the worst sufferer of the recent wave of cyber-attacks. The company's PlayStation network, online entertainment, pictures entertainment, Thailand server, Japanese site and Sony Ericsson among others suffered security or data breach incidents. The company puts the cost of the recent cyber-attacks at $172 million, which may further escalate. Security breach incidents not only have financial implications, but also have legal repercussions. Sony is also facing litigation with several class action lawsuits filed against the company in U.S. Professionals qualified in IT masters degree may help organizations in identifying the security risks and initiate corrective measures.
Cyber-attackers have used spear-phishing techniques to gain access to confidential information from employees and launch more sophisticated attacks on target organization's network and computer systems. E-learning and online computer degree programs may help employees in improving their computing practices and foster IT security conscious culture in organizations.
Information security is crucial for retaining customer trust and growth of the business. As such, organizations must place high emphasis on maintaining confidentiality, integrity and security of personal and financial information related to customers and stakeholders. IT professionals may take advantage of online technology degree programs to acquaint themselves of latest technological developments and bring improvements in the security mechanisms used in organization.
