Future looks bright and electric at Toyota

Refusing to be limited by battery powered hybrid technology, Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), which includes the Scion brand, has announced plans to release several all-electric vehicles. Your favorite used Toyota dealer announces that TMC will release not one or two, but three plug-in electric vehicles. These models include the Prius PHEV, the RAV4 EV, and the Scion iQ EV.

The Prius PHEV will allow drivers around 13 miles of all-electric driving, after which the vehicle will automatically switch to conventional hybrid driving. This allows drivers to avoid the anxiety of driving out of range. The plug-in Prius will cost only a small amount more than the original Prius, which means that it will remain a mainstream option.

Next up is the RAV4 EV, which was co-developed with Tesla and was first shown at last year's L.A. Auto Show. This model features a 100-mile driving range and can accelerate as quickly as the regular model. Also like the regular model, the RAV4 EV will feature 74 cubic feet of cargo room even with the batteries in place.

Finally we have the electric Scion iQ. This model offers an estimated 50-65 miles of travel before employing the lithium ion battery. Also notable is the fact that the battery pack is placed in the floor so the Scion iQ's 3+1 passenger layout is not disrupted.
