Elgin Nissan dealer shares update on Nissan LEAF sales

Sales of the Nissan LEAF are expected to reach ten to twelve thousand for the first model year

Crystal Lake, IL (prHWY.com) July 27, 2011 - Nissan Division vice president of sales, Al Castignetti, indicates that LEAF sales will likely reach 10,000 to 12,000 units for the first model year. M'Lady Nissan, your Elgin Nissan dealer, would like their used Nissan customers to know that while they can't purchase the vehicle yet in Illinois, they can now reserve a Nissan LEAF online.

Rollout of the LEAF has been slow for a number of reasons, but sales are now picking up as the required infrastructure is being setup and customers are installing their home charging stations. Nissan sold 298 LEAF vehicles in March, 573 in April, and 1,142 in May. Currently, the LEAF can be purchased in only seven states, but Nissan plans to add more states in the near future.

Elgin used Nissan customers can reserve a LEAF when they visit the website - www.nissanusa.com/leaf-electric-car/index and select the sign in / register option. Customers will need to fill in the required information and pay a $99 reservation fee by credit card to hold their position in line to receive their new LEAF when it becomes available in their state. This money is fully refundable if you decide not to purchase the car. Only one LEAF can be reserved per household.

As part of the registration process for your LEAF, you create an account, configure your vehicle, fill out a driving profile, and select your preferred dealer.
