Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus is the Epiphone (made in China) version of the Gibson Les Paul Standard with an upgraded flamed Maple top. Like the original LP, the Epiphone is made with a mahogany back and mahogany neck which is set (glued) to the body for that classic sustain. The Standard Plus features a highly flamed Maple top reminiscent of LPs from the late 50s. The scale length (and subsequent string tension) duplicates the LP while the nut width is a fraction of an inch thinner than the contemporary LP. Trapezoid inlays, alnico humbuckers, tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece wrap it up. As is the case with most contemporary Epiphones, a few hundred dollars invested in a bone nut, upgraded pickups, and a professional setup goes a long way. And in the end, you still have what is essentially a Gibson Les Paul at a fraction of the cost.

Pros: guitar sounds great, upgrade the pickups and its hard to tell the difference between this and a Gibson costing $1000 more. classic Les Paul tone, and beautiful burst flame top!
