Nagesh Kukunoor's latest offering - 'MOD'

Director Nagesh Kukunoor, known for his thought provoking films is all set with his first love story, 'MOD'. Read on to know what propelled the brilliant film maker to make a love story, a theme the director was earlier averse to.

Mumbai, India (prHWY.com) August 10, 2011 - Nagesh Kukunoor who has made films like Dor, Iqbal, Aashayein", "8X10 Tasveer" and "Bombay to Bangkok, was pretty sure that he would not make a love story, but was propelled into making 'MOD' due to its storyline. Talking about the film Nagesh says, "I never wanted to do love stories as I always believed there was nothing really new to say in the space considering we see so many love stories being made every year. But when I saw a Taiwanese film keeping watch at AFFF, where I was a jury, I was amazed. I wanted to take the same premise and set it in India. So I went ahead and bought the rights. I still maintain that every story has been told but it is the way a story is told that matters."

"'MOD'' is my first love story. I had always said I would never make a love story but here I did find something worth telling," said Kukunoor at the launch of the first look of the film. ''Mod'' bears shades to his critically acclaimed film, 'Dor' and Kukunoor has also used the tagline of 'Dor' for ''Mod''.

'Mod' features Ayesha Takia and MTV VJ Rannvijay in the lead roles and has been extensively shot in Ooty. About the film, Kukunoor said, "'MOD'" is a love story between two very, very unlikely people, set at the backdrop of a small hill station. Usually I like to set up my stories in these little towns, a kind of utopian India where everyone is nice and everything is fine. Ayesha runs a small clock repairing shop where she meets the stranger Rannvijay, who every day turns up with some problem of his wrist watch and there starts a quirky love story, which takes a dramatic turn. There are number of layers in the story, which peel out as the film proceeds, but ultimately it's a love story."
