Samsung tops in US

A research and based on comScore MobiLens data collected between April and June, Americans loved their Android-based Samsung phones.

london, United Kingdom (prHWY.com) August 11, 2011 - With 25.3 percent of the cell phone market Samsung led phone manufacturers, followed closely by LG (20.9%), Motorola (15.8%), RIM (8.4%), and Apple (7.9%).

With subscriber figures falling 1.3 percent, Motorola lost the most interest last quarter. The number of smartphones running Microsoft's Windows Phone 7, RIM's BlackBerry and Nokia's Symbian OS fell last quarter.

Google Android was also the most popular (40.1 percent) and the fastest growing with 5.4 percent.

RIM suffered the biggest drop with the fall of 3.7 percent. Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 devices lost 1.7 percent while Nokia's Symbian platform fell 0.3 percent and was visible on only two percent of all U.S. smartphones.
