Gardena, CA (prHWY.com) August 16, 2011 - Showing signs of confidence in the real estate market, MBK Homes is taking the first step toward revitalization of Gardena's Artesia Corridor with the construction of 97 new solar and LEED certified townhomes and live-work units located in the southern portion of the city at 1600 W. Artesia Blvd. 1600 at Artesia Square is situated on 5.56 acres within and at the center of the Artesia Corridor Specific Plan area, a 44-acre revitalization area bounded by Artesia Blvd. (SR-91) to the north, Western Ave. to the west, Normandie Ave. to the east and the Dominguez Channel to the south.

1600 at Artesia Square includes 63 new townhomes and 34 live-work units. All homes are LEED certified and come standard with a 20-year pre-paid solar lease. The three-story townhomes will offer four floorplan options ranging in size from 1,706 to 2,212 square feet with up to 4 bedrooms, 2 to 3.5 baths and attached garages. Prices start in the low $400s. The live-work units will offer three floorplan options ranging in size from 1,766 to 2,309 square feet with first floors devoted to flexible office and home-based business space, and upper floors reserved for contemporary living with up to 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Prices start in the mid $400s.

The community is centrally located approximately 10 miles south of downtown Los Angeles, approximately 7 miles southeast of Los Angeles International Airport and approximately 12 miles north of the Port of Los Angeles/San Pedro. Access to and from Gardena, includes the San Diego Freeway (I-405), the Artesia Freeway (SR-91), the Harbor Freeway (I-110) and the Century Freeway (I-105).

1600 at Artesia Square is the first major mixed-use development underway since the City adopted the Artesia Corridor Specific Plan in 2006. Grading was completed in 2008 and the off-site utilities and infrastructure were completed in 2009. The construction of the townhomes and live-work units is currently underway.
