Escondido Golf & Lake Club hosts visitors through October 2
HORSESHOE BAY, TX (20August 2011) -- For a limited time, Escondido Golf & Lake Club is open to the public for tours of the 2011 Southern Living Idea House. The house is open for viewing Wednesdays through Saturdays 11AM to 5PM, and 1 to 5PM Sundays through October 2. Escondido Golf & Lake Club is approximately 50 miles northwest of Austin and 80 miles north of San Antonio. The Idea House is expected to draw thousands of visitors from across the country. The home is featured in the September 2011 issue of Southern Living magazine.
"We are thrilled to return to Texas with an Idea House and excited to partner with the developers of Escondido and David Mitchell of Casa Highland Construction," said Kristen Payne, Executive Director of the Southern Living Homes Group. "When we set our sights on Texas for this home, there was only one place, escondido golf & lake club situated on the banks of Lake LBJ, and one architect, Michael G. Imber from San Antonio, that we felt could capture the regional style that is unmistakably Texas Hill Country. Michael took everything into consideration -- the use of indigenous stone and reclaimed timbers, an incredible setting and the importance of living outdoors," she added.
The custom-designed and fully furnished home combines the regional and rustic lifestyle indigenous to the Texas Hill Country with classic Old World architectural elements. The rural Mediterranean-inspired home features more than 4,000 square feet of outdoor living space including an outdoor kitchen, pool, deck and boathouse. Rear terraces and porches maximize the home's waterfront location.
The goal of the Southern Living idea house project is to inspire visitors by highlighting the latest in building materials and offering a glimpse into cutting-edge trends in home-furnishing products for custom home building or do-it-yourself remodeling projects.
The 2011 Idea Home was built by David Mitchell of Casa Highland Construction, Horseshoe Bay, TX and is the only Idea Home that was built this year. Mohon-Imber Interiors, Austin, furnished the inside of the main house and casita. Garden Design Studio with offices in Austin and Dallas planned the landscape features for the Idea House.
Tickets to tour the southern living idea house are $10 and may be bought on site. Scott & White Healthcare Foundation is the benefactor of a portion of the proceeds. Sponsors of the 2011 Idea House include General Electric, IKEA, Lennox, Shaw Floors, Sherwin-Williams, Sunbrella, and Trex.
