Natural gas cars could be the next big thing in America, and it starts with the Honda Civic

San Jose, CA (prHWY.com) August 24, 2011 - Rising gas prices have sent engineers back to the drawing boards in order to figure out cheaper ways to move around. Hybrids and electric vehicles have been sweeping the nation lately, but there's another alternative to the high priced fuel phenomenon. Natural gas vehicles are very popular on other continents, but Fremont used car dealers are of the opinion that the US has failed to really utilize what could be a great source of fuel for cars.

Currently, one vehicle rules the natural gas road, and it's the 2012 Honda Civic Natural Gas (nee Civic GX). While some trucks and buses have embraced this fuel source, only 117,000 vehicles on U.S. roads use it. Twelve million cars run on natural gas globally. As it stands, natural gas costs about half as much per gallon as regular gasoline that powers every used Honda Civic. Fremont drivers will rejoice at the thought of saving both the environment and money.
The advantages to this gas are aplenty. The vehicles that run on it produce less CO2 emissions, less nitrogen oxides and less carbon monoxide. All of these are harmful to humans and the environment. Used Honda Civics that run on gasoline will have higher percentages of these emissions.

To prepare for an increase in natural gas vehicles, Honda has even created its own gas-filler that works much like charging an electrical vehicle at home does now. Fremont used car dealers selling the Civic will have them with 1.8-liter engines and in 5-speed automatic.
