Nissan, Staten Island news: LEAF named Top Safety Pick

LEAF is first all-electric vehicle to earn coveted designation

The LEAF has received countless accolades for being all-electric, but recently it was recognized for its safety as well when the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety named it a "Top Safety Pick."

The IIHS doesn't give just any vehicle the "Top Safety Pick" designation; rather it is a coveted title that is given out to only the safest vehicles available on the market today. To be considered, vehicles must have electronic stability control and must take part in a series of crash tests which includes front, rear, side, and rollover. If the vehicle earns 'Good' (highest possible) ratings in all crash tests, then it can earn the title of "Top Safety Pick."
