Holcim Awards Entries Evaluated By Internationally Eminent Juries.

Independent juries comprising internationally-renowned professionals from 25 countries have now completed assessment of all entries in the 3rd International Holcim Awards competition for projects and visions in sustainable construction.

Mumbai,Maharastra, India (prHWY.com) September 5, 2011 - Independent juries comprising internationally-renowned professionals from 25 countries have now completed assessment of all entries in the 3rd International Holcim Awards competition for projects and visions in sustainable construction that ended earlier this year. From more than 6,000 submissions received, the juries were presented with the daunting task of evaluating 2,200 project entries that fulfilled the challenging requirements of being complete and formally correct. As in the previous Awards cycle, the largest number of entries in the global contest was received from India. The juries evaluated the projects using "target issues" for sustainable construction defined by Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction. Three-day jury meetings took place in each of the five regions of world on the campus of the respective partner universities of the Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction:
Asia Pacific - Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Bombay), Mumbai, India
Europe - Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zurich, Switzerland
North America - Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, USA
Latin America- Universidad Iberoamericana (UIA), Mexico City, Mexico
Africa Middle East - Ecole Supérieure d'Architecture de Casablanca (ESAC), Morocco

Regional Jury Meeting in Mumbai

The members of the regional jury for Asia Pacific who met at IIT Bombay were:

Regional Winners and Awards Ceremonies

Awards ceremonies will be held in five different regions of world during September-November where results of the five respective regional Holcim Awards competitions will be announced. The Holcim Awards ceremony for Asia Pacific region is scheduled at Singapore in November 24/25, 2011.
Currently, the verification of nominated projects is being conducted by the Technical Competence Centre c/o ETH Zurich in collaboration with the partner universities of the Foundation. Once the eligibility of each nominated project is confirmed in compliance with the conditions of entry, representatives of each winning project will be invited to the Awards ceremony in which their project is located.
Results of the competition will be updated on the Holcim Foundation website at www.holcimfoundation.org. In parallel, all entrants in the competition will be updated via email on the outcome of the respective regional competition. These details can also be followed via the Holcim Foundation website and their newsletter.


Holcim Awards for Sustainable Construction

The Holcim Awards competition encourages architects, planners, engineers, project owners and university students to share their projects and visions that go beyond conventional notions of sustainable construction. The competition is an initiative of the Swiss-based Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction. The foundation promotes sustainable responses to the technological, environmental, socioeconomic and cultural issues affecting building and construction. It is supported by Holcim Ltd, one of the world's leading suppliers of cement, ready-mix concrete and aggregates. The Holcim Group holds majority and minority interests in around 70 countries on all continents. The next International Holcim Awards competition is scheduled to open for entries in July 2013.
