My loving mother was the strongest in our family as well as, naturally, in their friendship. She reminded us of one of those tough but quiet women who took charge of the lot and we could not consider the gap she left in our lives.

Although we did not have a house far away, it was 50 km to call byhis house, therefore not something to be done every day. After the death of mom, he stayed with us yet he appeared miserable to be away from his home, the treasured conservatory plus the memories and, after 3 weeks, was fretting to go back. I told him to look upon moving close to us but the sorry remark made the answer clear.

Then my youngest daughter, thought about the idea to find a pup for her grandpa. This was an adventurous idea as her grandma never contemplated having a creature in the house. Though Stepfather had a kind spot for dogs and was always called upon to house-sit friends pets whenever the owners went away. An opinion of a pet for grandpa began to grow in our minds.

Our Family kept every day contact with Stepfather using the internet and Alicia agreed to broach the subject first. Grandpa said maybe, meaning that he wasn't against the idea though probably would not do anything about it soon. Alicia decided that meant she had carte blanche to find grandpa a new first-rate companion.

She became someone with a mission and she started researching some breeds and interrogating her grandfather at each opportunity. We were quite worried, although Papa seemed to find it fully humorous. Then Alicia said the splendid dog would be a Jack Russell. We joked that her decision was based on her granddad's favourite TV programme - as the family dog was a Jack Russell. Be that as it may, Alicia was adamant and Dad seemed eager so we started to search. Dad did not want to take on a feisty little pup and finding an older puppy was considerably tiresome. It was clearly a well-loved breed. Yet my daughter refused to abandon the search.

She began fine-combing the world wide web and looked at one of those free-to-advertise sites dedicated to dogs. Anyone could announce dogs and registered members could place complimentary ads. Well Alicia didn't require an invitation and, incredibly, she collected a telephone call less than a week later. A fond home was required for a five year old dog.

We all drove out to meet Bertie and, a few days later, bought the dog back to Dad's home. Dad and Bertie bonded right away and the dogs past owner seemed delighted. The perfect aspect about the website Alicia found was that it is was like a newspaper, yet more personal. You can search by area or breed and talk with buyers and sellers to resolve questions before making any commitment. The rapport between Dad, the new dog and the earlier owner was so wonderful that Dad and Bertie now and again visit her in her new house, so it seems that every one benefitted from this sale.
