Auto repair and transmission rebuilding service Vista Transmission in Vista CA 92083 is celebrating 50 years in business by giving away auto repair discounts and great specials to all their customers.
In 1961 pop radio charts included "Tossin' and Turnin" by Bobby Lewis and "I'll Fall to Pieces" by Patsy Cline. Wagon Train, Bonanza and Hazel were TV favorites. Astronaut Alan Sheppard was the first American in space. It was also the year Jim Coate open Vista Transmission Service.
Robert Lee Sr., at the time a high school student, was also there from day one working weekends to learn the trade. In 1974 he bought Vista Transmission Service from Jim Coate. The new owner's son, Robert Lee Jr. III started helping out at the shop when he was 8 years old.
At the shop after school and on weekends, he learned the business from the ground up from his father. In 2004, after providing transmission repair and auto repair services for more than 40 years, dad retired and the son took over running the business.
In 2009 "Hot Rod Bob" Lee, as his friends like to call him, incorporated the business and changed the name to Vista Transmission & Automotive, Inc., He also expanded its range of auto repair services from only transmissions to adding brakes, engine repairs and other necessary auto repair services for cars, trucks, vans and Hot Rod specialty cars.
A lot has changed in 50 years. "In the '60s and '70s, people would service their transmissions like changing their engine oil," explained Bob Lee. Today cars are far more complex. Many don't have transmission pans, and with the advanced overdrive systems, getting your car serviced by experts can save you a lot of time and money.
