Pancreas produces insulin and glucomen; the enzymes of the digestive system break down the food and convert it into carbohydrates, proteins, fats etc. The body however reacts for some foods and causes reaction for them like heartburn, gas etc.

The liver plays major role in the digestion and affects the body metabolism. Although these reactions are usually harmless and natural. Many things can go wrong with the body that includes minor ailments also like ulcers, which are caused by gastric acid; major ailments of the stomach are liver failure, inflammatory bowel disease etc. In the study of gastroenterology the complex digestive system is studied.
