Book Publisher Initiates Fight Against World Deforestation
Book publisher initiates tree planting program to counteract use of paper

CEO of Mikazuki Publishing House, Kambiz Mostofizadeh said "We are actively seeking to work with organizations dedicated to planting trees and reversing deforestation."
An estimated 30 million trees are cut down annually to provide the paper that is used in the U.S. book publishing industry. There also have been proven indicators regarding the annual rise in trees cut down for the use of books making some scholars argue whether print books numbers are really rising rather than decreasing.
Kambiz Mostofizadeh further stated "As book publishers, it is our responsibility to counterbalance the use of paper by donating to the effort of maintaining a sustainable environment."
Mikazuki Publishing House plans to coalition with other book publishers, with the goal of planting 10 million new trees over 5 years to counterbalance the use of paper in the publishing industry.
