New Haven, CT (prHWY.com) January 23, 2012 - Interview, in most cases, is the last step of the selection procedure. Hence it is also the most important and crucial point for both, Interviewer and Interviewee. One cannot take it lightly. When facing something new or first time, it is always beneficial to have an advice from an expert in that field. One can also consult those who have already gone through that thing. Similar is true about Interview. An interview advice can do a lot for you if it is from the right source. If you know what an interview actually is, you can decide what will be the better source for that advice.

An Interview is a process of determining or assessing a person's abilities according to the predefined norms or standard. These norms or standard are set according to the requirements. As I have already said that Interview is the most crucial point of any selection procedure, there are suggestion and advices for both sides i.e. Interviewer and Interviewee.
Interview Advice for Employer:

Write down the questions you want to ask. You cannot remember all the questions.
If you are Playing Interviewer it doesn't mean that you know everything. So it will be better to know a little about the things you are intended to ask.

It would be better if the objective of the Interview is clear in your Mind. It means what your requirements are and what capabilities ie. Qualifications and Experience you need to fulfill the position.

Give proper introduction of yourself including your Name, Designation and role in the Organization.

Ask the Interviewee that what he or she knows about the Organization and the Job Profile he/she is being interviewed for.

The environment in which the interview is being held is plays a vital role in the degree of success of interview. Your Desk should be cleaned. The candidates should be well taken care of. There should not be any interruptions during the interview.

Ask questions briefly and make sure you have cleared your point. Use the words "How" and "What". Use examples as well to create virtual scenarios.

Interview is already a stressful task for the interviewee. Do not make it worse.

If you think that candidate had not the chance to explain himself/herself, give them the opportunity to ask their own questions. Ask him/her to explain that how he/she is suitable for the position.

An Interviewee must give proper attention to the documents like Qualification and Experience certificates of the candidate.

Ask the candidate questions about his/her previous job and why he wants to change the job.

Behavioral interviews have become popular. This type of interview help in assessing the candidate's capabilities in certain situations. If not properly, you can give behavioral touch to the interview by creating virtual verbal situations and asking the candidate that what he/she would have do in those situations.

The above is a list of interview advice for the employer. This list can help you in arranging an Interview but it is also true that you learn well only when you actually go through something.
