Columbia, MD (prHWY.com) January 28, 2012 - According to a poll taken by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in January 2012, 74% of small businesses feel that health care reform will cause some financial difficulties on their part. Admittedly, there are some issues that presently cause stress and uncertainty for the small businesses. Is the fear about the costs associated with health care reform or something else? Most non-government sponsored health insured Americans have health coverage through a sponsored employer. The employer pays a portion of the coverage for most employees. Small businesses do not want to pay for these plans because of the high economic cost to insure their 5 or 6 employees. I think this is the fear most small employers refer to about the health reform bill President Obama proposed.

As a person who has been in health care reimbursement for 20 plus years, I've always looked for alternatives to paying what everybody else pays for the same medical services. And now employers in Maryland can combat the costs of health insurance and mental health services. Mental health services are generally paid by the health insurance company from $60 to $120 a session and the member pays a co-pay of $20 to $60. These costs are not high but when you see the therapist 4 to 8 times a month, $60 can break the bank each week.

A mental health therapist in Columbia, MD offers clients the opportunity to talk with her at such reasonable costs that she does not bill your health insurance. Progressive Awareness is located near The Mall in Columbia on 5840 Banneker Road and her sessions range from $20 to $35. This amount is less than some mental health co-pays implemented by employer-sponsored health plans. If employers in Maryland refer their adult employees to her, they could cut some of their health insurance costs by spending less on mental health services. Again when the costs to care for your employees rise with or without the implementation of the health reform bill, this is an option.
