THE U.S. SPACE LEGACY CONTINUES

Tweet: @flaspacecoast visitors can experience rocket launches, space history and in 2013 #spaceshuttle Atlantis at @ExploreSpaceKSC.

Although all 135 shuttle missions have been completed, Florida's Space Coast remains an important part of the nation's space legacy. As its name suggests, the Space Coast will continue to remain home to the country's storied space history with its space-themed attractions.

Visitors to the destination can still experience unmanned rockets launches which continue from Kennedy Space Center regularly. In fact, Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex (KSCVC) reported attendance at the first rocket launch since the ending of the shuttle program rivaled that of previous shuttle launches. KSCVC will be home to the retired Atlantis shuttle in 2013 and will be one of only four destinations nationwide where visitors can view an orbiter that has been a part of the historic shuttle program.

The U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame houses special exhibits dedicated the nation's space heroes. Visitors can even experience history when dining at the Surf Bar and Grill in Cocoa Beach, which has been an astronaut favorite since 1948 and has photos of their famous astronaut customers adorning the walls.
