Music Production School Students Attempt to Make First Contact With Aliens

The music industry has had its fair share of mysteries and rumors.

Seattle, WA (prHWY.com) February 24, 2012 - The music industry has had its fair share of mysteries and rumors. People used to think that if a record was played backwards it would reveal some hidden meaning or phrase, and then there was the belief that music manufacturers knowingly placed subliminal ads recordings in an effort to brainwash people into purchasing products. Now, a small music production school in Philadelphia might be creating the newest and latest mystery surrounding the music industry: that musical recordings could be used to talk to aliens.

"We believe that if you create a musical track or recording at a certain frequency and pitch, it could ideally be used to talk to aliens", said one of the production school's students, John Fielders. "It's completely unrealistic to believe that aliens are out there speaking some form of English and can readily communicate with us. However, frequencies can be easily intercepted and interpreted which will open the door for communications between us and the aliens."

The idea to use musical recordings as a way to contact aliens started as a class project. Students were instructed to create recordings that had an underlying frequency or tone that only dogs or bats could hear. Bats and dogs can hear frequencies that the human ear is unable to hear. The tracks were then played in front of dogs or at the zoo in front of bats to see if they would react.

"After seeing the bats and dogs react to a track that any human would believe was normal got me thinking that it could work on aliens," said James Hillman, a student at the music production school. "If you combine a bunch of frequencies together, and make a track that explains our intention to talk to aliens you are providing aliens with several ways to hear and talk to you."

Together, the students worked to create an original composition and a batch of frequencies that projected their desire to talk and communicate with the aliens. The composition and frequencies were combined to form one track.

The combined track will be beamed into outer space for three hours using a satellite system available through NASA. The students will monitor the radio during that time to see if anyone tries to communicate back with them.

"Chances are they won't receive any communication back from the aliens. People have been trying for years to contact aliens with no success," said alien expert Tammy Dopple. "Even with no communication from aliens, this will make a pretty neat story to tell the grandkids. You know, that you actually tried to contact aliens when you were in college."
