Induction cooker is a new name in the field of modular kitchen and home appliances. It is the alternative of traditional sources of cooking. An induction cooker uses induction heating for cooking. In it, heat is generated directly in the pot or vessel unlike the burning gas or stovetop. For using the cooker, the cooking vessel must be of a ferromagnetic metal. Induced current can heat any type of metal, but the magnetic property of a steel vessel concentrates the induced current in a thin layer near the surface, which makes the heating effect stronger. In non-magnetic materials like aluminum, the magnetic field penetrates too far, and the induced current encounters little resistance in the metal. Practical induction cookers are designed for ferromagnetic pots that will stick to a magnet.
How it works:-
In an induction cooker, there is a coil of copper wire underneath the cooking pot. An electric current flows through the coil, which produces a magnetic field. This field induces an electric current in pot. While the current is large, it is produced by a low voltage. The elements electronics power a coil that produces a high -frequency electromagnetic field. That field penetrates the metal of the ferrous cooking vessel and sets up a circulating electric current, which generates heat. That heat generated in the cooking vessel is transferred to the vessel's contents. Nothing outside the vessel is affected by the field-as soon as the vessel is removed from the element or the element turned off, heat generation stops.
Advantages of induction cooker:-
We can count the benefits of an induction cooker as below:
* It is faster and energy efficient than other traditional cooking sources.
* No burning injuries are occurred because of heating the pot directly.
* No air heating around the vessel.
* Have greater heat consistency.
* Easy to clean because of flat and smooth surface. Since heat is being generated by an induced electric current, the unit can detect whether cookware is present (or whether its contents have boiled dry) by monitoring how much power is being absorbed. That allows such functions as keeping a pot at minimal boil or automatically turning an element off when cookware is removed from it.
Disadvantages of induction cooker:-
There are some limitations of induction cooker as below:
* Cookware must be compatible with induction heating.
* Small amount of noise is generated because of internal cooling fan.
* Aluminum or copper vessels are not used on it.
* Consumes more power in non-ferrous pot by contact.
