Garvey Schubert Barer's Larry Brant Appointed Chair of Oregon State Bar Tax Law Section

Garvey Schubert Barer Owner Larry Brant has been appointed chair of the Oregon State Bar's (OSB) Tax Law Section for 2011-2012.

Portland, OR (prHWY.com) November 22, 2010 - Garvey Schubert Barer Owner Larry Brant has been appointed chair of the Oregon State Bar's (OSB) Tax Law Section for 2011-2012. He previously was vice-chair of the section (2010) and has also served as secretary (2009) and treasurer (2008).

The Tax Law Section provides continuing legal education and updates on state and federal tax issues for attorneys throughout Oregon. The professional group also assists in commenting on and promoting tax-related legislation and administrative rules both at the state and federal levels.

Brant is the chair of Garvey Schubert Barer's Tax and Benefits Practice Group and co-chair of the firm's Business Practice Group. He earned his LL.M. in taxation from the University of Florida College of Law, his J.D. from Willamette University College of Law and his B.S. from Portland State University. Since 2005, Brant has served as an adjunct professor in corporate taxation at Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Ore. Brant is a frequent speaker, both locally and nationally, and author on various tax issues, including IRC § 1031 exchanges, taxation of S corporations, and choice of entity.
