OH, OH (prHWY.com) March 13, 2012 - "Desperate Housewives" is coming to an end. "GCB" is inviting us to the rodeo in Texas. But Ohio has its own COUNTRY CLUB WIVES, chronicled in Sandra Gurvis's just-released satire about women, money, and homeless animals set in "New Albany, oops, New Wellington, Ohio." Centering around the fate of four self-proclaimed "drama queens," including its nearly destitute, ticked off, and recently divorced narrator, Tish McLean, the book has homegrown sex, drama, and murder, not to mention lots of reveals about the cubic-zirconium studded underbelly of a fiefdom developed by a local billionaire.

Long before the "Real Housewives" became a franchise and even before "Desperate Housewives," hit the airwaves, Gurvis, author of 15 nonfiction books and one novel, was working on COUNTRY CLUB WIVES, initially publishing it in the spring of 2011 as an ebook. It did so well that Loconeal, an independent small press located in Amherst, Ohio, published it as a paperback in February 2012, and again as an ebook in March. The paperback ($14.95) and ebook ($4.99) are available from Amazon.com and in other ebook formats on Smashwords.com.

And under the category of life imitating "arf," the book was also recently featured at the Humane Society of Delaware County's (HSDC) annual "Fur Ball" as well as the New Albany News. But it's not all about big bucks and boob jobs; a portion from each book sold goes to various local and national no-kill animal shelters, which have included HSDC, Humane Society of the United States, and the Red Door Animal Shelter in Chicago.

In addition to books such as DAY TRIPS FROM COLUMBUS (3rd ed), OHIO CURIOSITIES (2nd ed), and WHERE HAVE ALL THE FLOWER CHILDREN GONE?, Gurvis, a freelance writer for over 30 years, has published humorous essays, a novel THE PIPE DREAMERS, and hundreds of magazine articles and short stories.
