Greater Noida, India (prHWY.com) March 16, 2012 - SSBS has found that when a student is mentored through a professional qualification and the early years in a career, he/she blossoms into a thorough professional. Mentoring itself is an art that requires a lot of patience and a deep knowledge of the subject at hand. A good mentor hand holds the mentee through their education and the initial stages of their career, guiding them, teaching them and helping them overcome early stumbling blocks. Mentors are rewarded by a deep sense of satisfaction when they see their mentee shine and go forth to achieve great career heights.

SSBS aims at giving students that distinctive edge in their careers. With personal insights from their mentors, SSBS students get a first hand, inside view of the corporate world because they have a trusted guide who will be their advisor and coach throughout their learning process.

"Each of the SSBS students is guided by carefully chosen mentors on how they should proceed in the corporate world," Dr. Metri confirms. Mentors are the people SSBS students look up to and rely on for the ins and outs through the corporate maze. "They act as a guide, a Bible or a Gita and this is the purpose of the Mentor Mentee Programme," Dr. Metri elaborates. "Students get additional information from their mentors. This is apart from what they are learning during their courses, in the classroom and out of it." Mentors offer insights from practical experiences and from a career point of view. Students relate to these tips which in turn enhance their realistic learning.

Though not a monitored programme, the Mentor Mentee meetings take place periodically, as and when required. These one on one meetings help both of them understand each other better. They enjoy the freedom to discuss issues, brainstorm and find solutions, mutually. A problem shared is always a problem halved. "Both benefit. The mentor learns about the latest techniques and happenings in academia. The programme is a good platform where they share their interests, one on one. It is not a monitored programme and there is no evaluation involved," Dr. Metri clarifies.

What makes a good mentor? For starters he will always make time for his mentee. He will have high levels of commitment towards his mentee's progress and possess deep confidence in his own capabilities. Most important of all, a good mentor takes profound interest in the mentee's progress.

It is not always possible to meet face to face. However, Dr. Metri says, "Right mentors will always give time to their mentee according to their mutual convenience. This being the internet era, networking, emails, mobile communication and keeping in touch is always possible."

Often, mentors and mentees end up working together on projects. "It totally depends on the students on how much they want to learn from their mentor and how to learn from them." Dr. Metri observed.
