Universiti Sains Malaysia & James Lind Institute Collaborate to Offer Clinical Research Courses

To bring uniformity in the education system around the world, steps are being taken by universities at different levels.

Hyderabad, India (prHWY.com) March 19, 2012 - To bring uniformity in the education system around the world, steps are being taken by universities at different levels. From conducting online courses to collaborations with international universities, universities lay emphasis on areas that would further help in bringing students from different cultures and countries together.

Toeing the same line, recently Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and James Lind Institute signed a MOU for offering Masters Degree program in various fields of clinical research in collaboration. Another outcome of this collaboration between both the universities is establishment of a JLI-USM Centre of Excellence for Translational Medicine at the USM Health Campus in Malaysia.

Presently, the field of clinical research is in a young state and various measures need to be taken to promote it amongst medical students. Through this collaboration, both Universiti Sains Malaysia and James Lind Institute aim at taking clinical research to greater heights and also help students in getting familiar with opportunities available after pursuing a course in fields like translational medicine, clinical research and other related specialties.

The masters degree programs offered under this collaboration act are designed according to industry standards and norms and thus stress upon imparting practical knowledge. For a successful delivery of practical sessions, research centers and units have already been established. Regarding the theoretical curriculum, the syllabus would be updated and modified regularly so that industry needs can be catered efficiently.

During the occasion, it was announced that admission to the course would be open from third quarter of 2012.
