Ed Sheeran is a popular rapper, songwriter and folk singer from Britain who made it into the limelight with his single 'The A Team' in June 2011.

Los Angeles, CA (prHWY.com) March 22, 2012 - Ed Sheeran is a popular rapper, songwriter and folk singer from Britain who made it into the limelight with his single 'The A Team' in June 2011. Starting out very early in his life, he started learning the guitar at school and had his first proper gig at the age of 11. He then went on to open for Nizlopi in 2008. He started recording in 2005 when he released his first EP called the Orange Room EP. He then released two albums in quick succession the first one of which was called 'Ed Sheeran' in 2006 and the second called 'Want Some?' in 2007.

He then moves to London to find better prospects and tried to take up as many gigs as possible. In 2009, he played 312 gigs through the year and released the You Need Me EP. He then went on tour with other artists who include Just Jack, Leddra Chepman and Example. In February of 2010 he released his most acclaimed EP called Loose Change which had the track 'The A Team'. He then let go of his management company and flew to Los Angeles in order to find more prospects. He was spotted by Jamie Foxx duting his performance in The Foxxhole and was given a chance to use his recording studio and home. In 2010 he released Ed Sheeran: Live at the Bedford EP and Songs I Wrote With Amy.

His internet and youtube presence constantly increased during this time and he began to appear in several magazines and newspapers. His last independent EP was called No.5 Collaborations Project and it included several artists such as JME, Ghetts, Wiley and so on and was released on 8th January, 2011. Shortly after this, he signed with Asylum/Atlantic records and later that year he appeared on the TV show Later...with Jools Holland where he performed 'The A Team' as his debut single. He then released an album called '+' on 12th September, 2011.

The second single called 'You Need Me' released on 28th August 2011 which was announced by him while headlining for the BBC tent in the Glastonbury Festival. He then released his fourth single called 'Lego House' on 20th October, 2011 and then a fourth single called 'Drunk' on 19th February 2012. The single 'The A Team' reached the number 3 position on UK charts and sold 58,000 copies in the first week. The track was the highest-selling and highest-charting debut single in UK charts in the year 2011.
