U.S. Putting Tour Announces Expanded Schedule for 2012 Championship

The U.S. Putting Tour announced today that it will hold three 18-hole on-course tournaments for golfers entered in the 2012 Putting Championship, at Morgan Run Club and Resort, September 26 - October 2

San Diego, CA (prHWY.com) April 2, 2012 - The U.S. Putting Tour announced today that it will hold three separate 18-hole on-course golf tournaments during the 2012 USPT Championship at Morgan Run Resort and Club in Rancho Santa Fe, California, September 26 through October 2.

The golf tournaments will take place on each of the final three days of the putting championship, Sunday, September 30, Monday, October 1 and Tuesday, October 2. Every golfer, whether competing in the Pro or Amateur division of the putting championship, is eligible to enter one or more of the golf tournaments.

"We came up with the idea of holding the on-course tournaments during the putting championship from golfer feedback," said USPT President, Jim Hartley. "A number of golfers from around the country told us they want to come to San Diego for the USPT Championship and also want to compete in on-course golf events while they're here."

Hartley said they decided to run three separate one-day events, so U.S. Putting Tour participants will have the flexibility to play golf on one, two or three of the days. He added that golfers competing in the USPT Championship also have the option of scheduling open rounds of golf at Morgan Run throughout Championship Week.

The on-course golf tournaments will feature prize money for golfers competing as professionals and merchandise prizes for amateurs. Amateurs can compete in scratch or net handicap divisions, while all the pro division will be scratch, no handicap, only.

Golfers can enter the USPT Championship directly at http://www.usputtingtour.com. The entry fee is $100 for the Amateur Division and $250 for the Pro Division. Entry into the 18-hole golf tournaments also can be done at the website. Hartley said entry fees will be set in the next few days.
