San Diego, CA (prHWY.com) April 5, 2012 - The All Star Golf Tour, a Texas-based golf mini-tour for professional and amateur golfers, announced today that it is offering exemptions into the U.S. Putting Tour national championship, which takes place in Rancho Santa Fe, California September 26 through October 2.

Golfers who compete in the All Star Golf Tour will have two ways to earn an exemption. The first way involves players tracking their total putts for each ASGT tournament round completed between April 1 and the last district event prior to Sep 26.

ASGT will select the three rounds with the the lowest number of putts taken by the player. The player from each district who has the lowest three-round putting total will be awarded an entry exemption.

The second exemption opportunity is based on each ASGT district awarding one entry based on the Member of the Year category points leader at the conclusion of the last round prior to the putting championship. Players are awarded points for event entries, new member referrals and guest player referrals.

"The idea of a mini tour letting their golfers qualify for the U.S. Putting Tour Championship makes a lot of sense," said USPT President, Jim Hartley. "It adds value to their golfers' membership and it can be an extra revenue generator for the tour."

Hartley indicated that all mini tours around the country can add a simple USPT Championship qualifying event to their regular tournaments. He said that the fee to qualify a golfer into the Pro Division of the USPT Championship is only $250, so mini tour operators can charge players as little as $25 for the qualifying event and, with 10 participants, cover the cost of the qualifier's USPT entry.

Golfers also can enter the USPT Championship directly. The entry fee is $250 for the Pro Division and $100 for the Amateur Division. Golfers in the Pro Division will putt for dough, a total purse of $50,000 will be available with a full field. More information on the putting championship and on how to enter is available at http://www.usputtingtour.com.
