Lenexa, KS (prHWY.com) April 10, 2012 - The first Seattle Times Silly Movie Summaries has come to an end and they already mentioned the winners of the event. The event was a success so they made a rundown on the numbers and the winners of the event.

The grand prize winning entry in the First Silly Movie Summary Contest is the silly summary of the film "Lassie Come Home". The even ended earlier last March and it was considered as a huge success. Bonny Brinkley from Newcastle is the one who submitting the amusing "Lassie" Summary. After finding out that she won, she immediately thanked the Seattle Times for providing the opportunity to combine her love of movies and the chance to show to her husband that she does not really use a lot of words.

According to Paul de Barros, one of the writers of Seattle times, he was compiling the emails while coming across the one with the blank screen. He said that his first reaction was annoyance but after seeing the subject line "The Artist", he became really interested. Helen Rodgers of Kirkand said that she was really surprised. Actually, he thinks that everyone was really surprised.

The Silly Summaries event started last summer and the Weekend plus Editor Melissa Davis started reading the movie summaries. They actually received around 568 emails together with multiple entries. They had a total of 846 summaries. Seattle Times had a difficult time picking the winners because of the various summaries sent to them. Most of the entries have a high quality so they had a difficult time in picking the winner. However, movie critic Moira Macdonald helped them narrow down the field to eight. Because of the generosity of Landmark Theaters, they managed to distribute 30 free movie tickets as prizes for the winners.

Seattle Times said that they have no plans on giving a special award for the best "Wizard of Oz" summary made by the participants but they said that they received 88 entries so they come to a decision to make it a special category.

They said that they are not surprised that there are a lot of people who sent summaries of "Star Wars" with 24 entries and "The Sound of Music" with 21 entries but they did not expect for the "Lawrence of Arabia" to be so popular with a total of 22 entries.

Seattle Times plans to continue the event next year. They will be holding another event next year so they are looking forward for more participants. For the people who missed the announcement of the winners, here is a rundown of the winners and the prizes that they obtained.

For the Grand Prize, Bonny Brinkley won tickets on the film "Lassie Come Home". The 1st prize was given to Sid Schwab on his film "High Noon" and won six tickets. Scott Tucker also won four tickets as the 2nd prize winner for the film "The Sound of Music".
