Dine at Your Own Risk: Hollywood Diners Allow Others to Choose Meals for Them

Every restaurant-goer has faced the huge dilemma of walking into a restaurant and not knowing what to order.

Seattle, WA (prHWY.com) May 3, 2012 - Every restaurant-goer has faced the huge dilemma of walking into a restaurant and not knowing what to order. After sitting at a table for several minutes the difficult task of choosing which meal to have for the evening seems like a life or death decision. A newly opened restaurant on the Hollywood Boulevard takes the difficult task of choosing what meal a person will have for the evening, and places it in the hands of a perfect stranger.

"It's surprising how many people go to a restaurant and don't know what they want to eat", said restaurant owner, Stefani McGlover. "We take that difficult decision and place it in the hands of a perfect stranger."

The way the restaurant works is fairly simple. When people make their reservation for lunch or dinner they are given a questionnaire to fill out. The questionnaire features questions in regard to food allergies, likes and dislikes, and what the person is in the mood for. People are told they need to bring the questionnaire to the restaurant at the time of the reservation.

"These questionnaires give us the opportunity to give people what they want", said McGlover. "It also gives the other person a guideline on what the other person may or may not like, so they can pick a dish that they might enjoy."

The filled out questionnaires are then handed over to another table where those people will make the final decision on what meals the other table will eat. It is assumed that the people at the table will go off of the questionnaire, because someone else in that very room is picking out their meal for the evening at the same time.

"This is definitely a unique dining experience", said McGlover. "I don't think any other Hollywood restaurant has something similar to what we offer."

In addition to the unique meal choice activity, the restaurant which is appropriate titled Take This Meal Off My Hands, features a team of world class chefs. Each chef has studied at the finest culinary schools all across the world.

Take This Meal Off My Hands opened to rave reviews in March. Every evening they have filled the dining room to capacity, and some weekends have a waiting list for reservations.

"This restaurant isn't for the faint of heart", said restaurant patron Kim Thompson. "It was like an adrenaline rush when the dish came to the table. It was just amazing, words almost couldn't describe it. I'll be back for sure!"
