Seattle, WA (prHWY.com) May 5, 2012 - Pet lovers love to dress their pets up in different costumes and clothing. There are contests that require pet owners to try to look like their pet, or ones seeing who can match their pet's costumes to a pre-selected theme. Many of the costumes are only available to pet owners who own a cat or dog, but a new company based out of Chicago is making it their goal to open up the pet costume world to everyone.

"Is it really fair that only people who own a cat or dog can dress their animal up", asked CEO of Costumes for Barnyard Animals, Jeff Young. "It isn't if you think about it. My goal is to provide costumes for farm owners so they can dress their animals up too. It's only fair."

Costumes for Barnyard Animals started out with a crazy idea to create snapback caps for baby chicks. An owner of a farm in Illinois came to Jeff Young and asked if it was possible to create a hat that would be able to grow with the baby chicks. Jeff Young created a miniature version of the snapback cap for a chicken. The hat has an adjustable back that allows the owner to move it along as the chicken grows.

"I have some of the hippest chicks in town", said farm owner Tony Higgins. "My chicks are always dressed to the nines, and these caps allow them to look cool."

Seeing how successful the snapback caps became, Jeff Young started creating various costumes and articles of clothing that can be worn by a variety of barnyard animals. Jeff Young's collection includes a pair of sagging jeans for cows, Ugg-inspired boots for horses, and sweaters for sheep.

"I don't leave any barnyard animal out of the equation", said Jeff Young. "If it's ever been on a farm or a barn, I will make a costume or set of clothing for it."

Costumes for Barnyard Animals recently extended its clothing collection to feature exotic animals and Halloween costumes. The exotic animal collection allows lizards, turtles and ferrets to dress up in fashions inspired by top fashion designers.

"Why should humans be the only ones who dress up and look nice", said ferret owner Beth Jenness. "Now my ferret is the best dressed in town. Sometimes I dress him up in fashions that I own so we can walk around town looking alike. It's funny to see the looks we get!"
