Houston, TX (prHWY.com) May 8, 2012 - ATX Global - A multi-million-dollar marketing consultancy firm this week found Texas' employment rate a "welcome sign" for home improvement businesses and old construction marketing ideas a "downer."

Employment now joins food, clothing, and shelter as a basic need for the modern household. So, when the Houston Business Journal reported today that Texas currently leads the poll for creating the most private and public sector employment opportunities within the decade, consultancy firm ATX Global saw a window of opportunity.

Windows of Opportunity

People who have stable jobs tend to invest more in an owned home than in a rented property, the company explained. More employed locals mean fewer shadow economies and more business for the construction sector.

Always a step below the national average, the unemployment rate of Texas for the first quarter decreased by 7.3 percent, according the Texas Workforce.

Shadow economy was a term coined by analysts to refer to a segment of the population without a home. The economy comprises young adults who end up living with a parent because they are unable to find jobs and cannot afford the cost of owning residential property.

Last year, Texas was indeed a looker for home improvement companies. It ranked first in the nation in terms of commercial real estate construction development, besting New York, West Virginia, California, and Arizona.

In the area of home sales, the state does not disappoint either. The Real Estate Center of the Texas A & M University revealed that sales for single-family homes are presently up by 6.8 percent.

Faulty Construction Marketing Ideas

Despite the rosy picture, not all construction businesses could cash in on the state's success.

ATX Global pointed out that belief systems can often affect a business owner's ability to create wealth for himself. In fact, many of the "proven" methods no longer work today, stressed ATX Global founder Travis Jenkins.

The renegade millionaire identified the following "popular" ideas as modern-day misconceptions which deserve to be debunked:

* A company should take the time to chase after prospects.
* Contractor marketing is difficult and should only be handled by experts.
* High-value clients are not price-sensitive.
* Perseverance in repetitive marketing can win over clients.
* Prospects care about brand advertising.
* SEO is crucial to a company's success.
* Serving the same ads for a longer term can change marketing campaign outcomes.
* The key to success involves providing a top quality product and service.
* Price is still the best way to attract new clients.

The rest of the faulty ideas are unveiled in the company's 7-part free video training series. The training may also be viewed offsite via The Home Improvement Marketer's channel on YouTube.
