Queen, WV (prHWY.com) May 10, 2012 - What is better: a book or a movie - is an tough question. We are all created different, and our preferences may vary. Anyways, people often debate about the benefits of both. On the other hand, there is a whole bunch of folks who believe that movies are much more expressive and fascinating. The question is: why some people prefer screen versions of the books to the original source and vice versa?

Voting For Movies

The point is perceiving printed words is a little bit more difficult for a human brain. That's the main reason why so many people prefer images to letters. It's a common-known fact that we think in visualized patterns, and transforming printed words into these patterns isn't necessary when you watch a film. Movies are made for your imagination to be fed, so, if you can't boast a great one, you'd better grab a DVD. Roughly speaking, movies are for lazy people. The second advantage of watching movies is the fact that it doesn't take much time. Time is money, and that's why many people prefer to watch screen versions of famous novels instead of reading them. All in all, don't waste your time and just grab some pop corn. Besides, you can just feel exhausted or be troubled by something, and in such case watching a movie is definitely the right choice as compared to reading.

Voting For Books

Movies are more entertaining, and that's the fact, but still, a lot of people opt for books. Old good books stimulate our brain and force it to work. Being "higher, faster, stronger" in terms of intelligence is crucial in our society. When we read we memorize the words and expressions, boost our vocabulary, and broaden our outlook. Plus, when you read a book you present a definite picture which would probably differ from the one on the screen. Bad screen version can spoil the whole impression and you would never ever learn what the author had to say. Moreover, 2 hours of screen play can't substitute several hundreds of pages stuffed with detailed information. You can't say you've learned the story through and through if merely watched a movie. When you read you metamorphose into the part of the story and participate in it, but if you go to the cinema, you are just a guest.

All in all, tastes differ. In two words, books challenge your mental skills while movies add points to your good mood. The way you feel physically and mentally matters a lot as well. Watching a screen version of some novel would be probably better for you if you are tired and just unable to perceive any serious information at the very moment. However, a good story is worth being told regardless of the form, and that what really matters.
