Most of the people must have heard about the story of Magi. The Epiphany is celebrated to commemorate the day when Christ was visited by Wise Men. The feast was associated with a number of customs and rituals. Some people sprinkled water in every room and a holy procession used to take place in which family members carried the incensed charcoal to get the blessings. Sacred words "The three Holy Kings" were written on the walls with a chalk that was blessed. As most Christians are aware, today families celebrate this feasting day by baking cakes with beans. The person getting the bite containing bean is honored as the king of the feast. The Epiphany is popular among children as the cake adorned like crown makes them recognize the importance of the day. In Philippines, the children leave their shoes out so that they get gifts in return.
The Temple of Artemisis a sacred place that is dedicated to the fertility goddess Artemis whose sculptures are often adorned with multiple breasts and eggs, the symbols of life. It was one of the seven wonders of ancient world. This temple was built on a podium. There were several columns in the Temple of Artemis that were carved by the architect Scopes. The base of this structure was square and this temple differs from other contemporary buildings in that it is entirely made in marble. Though the temple is in ruins now, a visitor can still admire its beauty. Temple of Artemis was also a marketplace that was visited by merchants, artisans and visitors who paid their homage to the goddess. The temple had many sculptures built by Pheidais and Polyclitus.
