Company Provides Lost Birds with Safe Landing

Seattle, WA (prHWY.com) May 27, 2012 - When a bird accidently falls from its nest and lands on the ground it is usually a death sentence. Birds of prey, raccoons, and other animals almost certainly feast on the poor defenseless birds, but if they don't the birds end up dead because of a lack of warmth and comfort that is found from the nests. Bird deaths like this will no longer be an issue if the inventors of 'Safe Landings' have their way.

"We are natural pet and animal lovers and the idea that one baby bird could die as a result of a small fall is heartbreaking to use", said CEO of Safe Landings, Sheila Slate. "I set out to make it a life's mission to ensure no bird ever died again from a fall from a tree, and here I am 30 years later with my own company that makes sure that happens."

Safe Landings is dedicated to providing a small, enclosed area around trees where bird families have built their nest. These small enclosed areas feature memory foam pillows that allow the birds to land safely should they fall from the nets.

"We noticed that memory foam pillows are very similar in shape and texture to the inside of a nest", said president of product development, Matt Sanders. "We wanted to find something that was the same to the nests, but not the nests themselves. The memory foam pillows allow the birds to feel like they are at home, even when they have crashed to the ground."

The concept of Safe Landings is off to a relatively rocky start. Very few customers are sure exactly what the product does, or why it is needed. A new endorsement deal with the Bronx Zoo may help change the public's perception of these pillows.

"The Bronx Zoo is trying to breed American bald eagles", explained Slate. "They are afraid that the eagles will build the nests so far up in the enclosure that if the baby birds or eggs fall they will crack, and all the hard work is for nothing. We are providing our product to them, to give them peace of mind."

The soft, light memory foam pillows will be placed around the wooden tree where the bald eagles are hosting their nests. This will allow the eggs to land safely and securely in the event of an accident, and prevent them from cracking, breaking, or hurting the animals inside.
