Laughter Heals as Proven by New Home Health Care That Relies Upon Comedians and Clowns
The study showed that the patients who regularly watched comedies or told jokes had a better success rate with radiation and chemotherapy than others.

"We noticed many of our competitors had a high turnover rate or hired staff that didn't give two squirts about the patients", said founder of Chuckles Heals Home Health Care Services, Molly Brandon. "I wanted to change that about the home health care industry, and so my company was born."
Brandon decided to combine the need for high quality health care with the alternative approach of laughter after reading a medical study that suggested laughter and love were just as important in the health care industry as prescriptions and treatments. The medical study that sparked the formation of this company looked at 150 cancer patients in one central hospital. The study showed that the patients who regularly watched comedies or told jokes had a better success rate with radiation and chemotherapy than others.
"There is just something so powerful about laughter that it can actually physically heal the body", said Brandon. "It's amazing!"
Chuckles Heals Home Health Care Services requests that all people who apply have a sense of humor and a willingness to go above and beyond to make a patient smile. All staff members are trained and certified RNs and home health aides.
"We aren't looking for the next great comedian", explained Brandon. "We need someone with a sense of humor and willingness to take care of others. However, we have at times offered to train particularly funny people in an effort to help our services grow."
Patients who rely upon Chuckles Heals Home Health Services often have clown RNs appear at their door with a basket filled with pranks, laughter and love. The patient database of people who rely upon this unique home health care service has grown from 10 to 60 in just a matter of months.
"My mom was always someone who went to comedy clubs, loved old comedy TV shows and such", said Doris Hollows, a daughter of a patient who uses Chuckles Heals Home Health Services. "Now I know she is being taken care of, and can have all the laughter and love she needs to feel safe and secure."
