Groundbreaking Agriculture Report Reveals Commonly Used Fertilizer Products Have Little Effect on Plant Yield
A new report reveals that some fertilizers that farmers frequently use have no practical effect on plant yield.

The report, "The Truth About Avail & Nutrisphere-N: How Corporate Agriculture Misuses Science to Support False Claims," was authored by noted soil scientists DC Edmeades and Robert McBride. The report uses meta analysis to examine and evaluate all the available experimental data on Avail and Nutrisphere-N in order to help farmers make more informed decisions about what products they want to use. The report's conclusions are supported by a number of respected agricultural scientists, including George Rehlm, Bob Halloway, and John Grove.
The analysis aggregates 210 trial years for Avail and 121 trial years for Nutrisphere-N to refute the manufacturer's claim of 10 to 15 percent increases in crop yield. It proves conclusively that neither of these products has any effect on increasing crop yield and that the money farmers are spending on them is being wasted.
"We want to unite farmers and make them aware of the facts about the products they buy," said Andrew Trotter, a third generation family farmer and the chief executive officer of AgStraight. "My family has operated farms for close to 80 years. I am passionate about what I do. Farmers like me are being misled by industry claims about products that don't work. I created AgStraight to ensure that farmers get what they have been promised and what they pay for."
In coming months, AgStraight will publish similar reports on other commonly used farm products. With the help of expert agronomists, statisticians, and other researchers, AgStraight will continue to be a trusted source of solid information on the products and services that farmers rely on to feed a growing global population.
According to Trotter, he was astounded by what the report found and felt it was essential to make his fellow farmers aware of the facts so that they could save hundreds and thousands of dollars they are now wasting on widely promoted products that don't really work. "We will work to eradicate deceptive and unethical practices and do everything in our power to ensure that the farmer's welfare comes first and foremost," he said.
