Bedbug Infestation Dilemma Solved with a Memory Foam Mattress

The World Hospitality Organization (WHO), has recently announced at a press conference that they have discovered how to halt the international bedbug infestation which as been causing travelers to itch and complain in cities across the world.

The World Hospitality Organization (WHO), has recently announced at a press conference that they have discovered how to halt the international bedbug infestation which as been causing travelers to itch and complain in cities across the world.

Jim Stohl, Vice President of the WHO's Horizontal Division, which is responsible for everything to do with beds, announced that they accidentally discovered the remedy when a hotel cleaning crew was comparing notes. "Linda Suarez, who was in charge of cleaning the Executive Level floor at a prominent hotel claimed that she'd never seen a bedbug on any of her beds," he explained. After some investigation, it was determined that the beds on that level had been topped with a high quality memory foam mattress from Renfrew Spatial Inc., makers of the space-age material mattresses.

Sandie Travers of Renfrew Spatial responded to the news via a teleconference, admitted that it was likely the space-age technology used to create the memory foam that was probably trapping the bedbugs in the porous material, preventing them from moving and therefore breaking the breeding cycle.

When asked if the WHO was going to make a recommendation that all hotel beds be replaced with memory foam mattresses, Stohl declined to comment. Patrick Reinhart, CEO of TravelInn, a popular budget motel chain, cited costs in the millions of dollars to replace existing mattresses with the much more expensive memory foam mattresses, and claimed that for his company, at least, the switch just wasn't feasible.

A recent online survey conducted by Survey Queen showed that in excess of 98 percent of international travelers would consider paying more to stay in a room with a memory foam mattress if it meant that they could have a restful night free from itching and scratching. When presented with this information, TravelInn declined comment.

Since the release of this news, retail stores that sell memory foam mattresses have reported a sharp surge in sales, which is welcome news in the flagging retail sector. Sales of memory foam toppers have also increased, though there is a lack of evidence to support that a 2-inch or 4-inch mattress topper has the same effect as the memory foam mattress.

When asked if he would choose a room with a memory foam mattress over a traditional one, Stohl of the WHO, nodded vigorously and replied, "Absolutely! Not only are the bites irritating but they can get into your luggage and you can bring them home with you. Before you know it, they're in your home as well."
