Snapback Caps Become a Part of Fashion History with Man's Collection
When ancient historical artifacts are discovered they are often passed on to the Smithsonian or some historical museum, but what do people do with fashion items that are a part of fashion history.

"All my life I have collected snapback caps", said John Rivers. "There was just something so appealing about them that made me want to collect them. It started out with a small collection of maybe 15 and that quickly grew into 50, then 100 and now it's up to 200."
John Rivers' collection isn't just any old snapback cap that he discovers. His entire collection is filled with rare and uniquely designed snapback caps.
"I spend my days searching the Internet, auction sites, and malls looking for those special snapback caps to join my collection", explains Rivers. "Sometimes I find ones, sometimes I don't. I don't want my collection to include just any old cap I find. It has to have some special meaning to myself or history."
In addition to rarely designed snapback caps, Rivers collects caps from celebrities. Approximately 25% of his collection is made up of celebrity caps. Some of the caps were actually worn by the celebrities, others are autographed, and some were designed by the celebrities.
"I think the most valuable addition to my collection happens to be some of the caps that I have that were worn by sports or music celebrities", said Rivers.
"Each cap I get autographed has a picture for authenticity purposes, but it's more than just that. It's like I'm building memories with each cap I add to my collection."
John Rivers plans on donating his entire snapback collection to the Fashion Institute of Seattle. The Fashion Institute of Seattle already has extensive plans on what they will do with the caps once they are donated.
"We were notified by Mr. Rivers that he wished to make a substantial donation to our institute" said a PR rep for the institute. "We worked closely with him to create a display case and make it a real part of our school. People might think it was a lot for a few snapback caps, but these items are a part of clothing history."
John Rivers plans to unveil his donated collection at the beginning of the fall semester. There will be an opening gala and the exhibit will be officially unveiled.
