Seattle, WA (prHWY.com) June 26, 2012 - The thought of attending a bartending school is often a dream come true for many individuals. What if a bartending school were to combine two of people's favorite interests into one - traveling and bartending? That is exactly what the Mix It Up Bartending School is doing.

"We noticed that individuals loved attending classes, but we wanted to give ourselves an edge above the competition", said Joey Falsetto, dean of Mix It Up.
"There isn't a way to change what we teach students, so the only way was to change where we taught the students."

Mix It Up offers an extensive bartending class that is held aboard an Antarctica cruise ship. The class teaches all the basic essentials bartenders need to know, but it allows them to do it in a unique setting.

"Not many people get to fully experience the Antarctica", said Falsetto. "We offer people a chance to see the unknown while learning a valuable skill that can help earn a living. It really is an attracting offer."

In addition to the regular bartending classes, this floating bartending school offers a unique class that only a handful of schools teach - ice sculpting and creating drinks off of blocks of ice. Many bars have tried to attract customers by offering them a unique drinking experience that allowed them to get their chilled drinks straight from the source.

"We thought it would be a great alternative to regular drinks if we taught people to create drinks on ice blocks", explained Falsetto. "The ice block drink creation is kind of hard in a classroom setting, but on this cruise ship it's the perfect place. The temperature is right and the students are willing to learn."

The floating bartending school has attracted nationwide attention. Students from the west coast of Washington state to Florida have signed up to attend these bartending lessons. In fact, so many people have signed up that the school has a waiting list for the next four cruises of this nature.

"We didn't expect so many people to want to take part in the cruise", said dean of admissions Sally Smooth. "If we had we would have raised the cap on the number of students who were allowed to attend the classes."

All students who have attended Mix It Up's past cruises have found gainful employment at local bars and restaurants.

"It really is amazing how helpful this school was", said Travis Dean, a student on the original cruise. "I found employment as soon as I got home from the cruise."
