Seattle, WA (prHWY.com) June 26, 2012 - The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was an all-time favorite cartoon series in the 80s, but it has developed a following some 20 years later. Many Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fans, or TMNT fans as they like to be called, gather in hotel conference rooms to meet up with each other, a small group of individuals are taking meeting up a step further and going to the Galapagos Islands.

"We thought it would be kind of cool to meet up with each other in a unique setting", said TMNT fan club president Tori Smith. "We tossed around a lot of ideas such as New York City or Miami, but then someone mentioned having a mix of real turtles and our heroes, and we came up with the Galapagos Islands."

The Galapagos Islands are known for having the world's largest gathering of extra-large turtles. The TMNT fan club plans on seeing these turtles in real life, while exploring and discussing the finer points of the cartoon, comics and movies that featured the TMNT.

"The way our gathering will work is that we
board a Galapagos cruise and head down to the islands where we take a tour of it", explained Smith. "We will hold the regular TMNT conference stuff on the cruise. You know, the discussions and movie watching, and then we'll spend a considerable amount of time touring the Galapagos Islands."

This is the first trip of such nature for TMNT fans. The announcement for such a fan gathering went live in early March and already is booked to a 75% capacity.

"Unfortunately we had to limit the number of people who could attend the cruise", said Smith. "We would love to include everyone that wanted to go on the trip, but it just isn't possible. We had to limit it."

The TMNT fans have several unique activities planned for this once in a lifetime event. The biggest draw is being able to take photos surrounded by the Galapagos turtles. The group plans on dressing up in TMNT costumes and taking photos surrounded by the turtles in the sand.

"The biggest draw for me was the ability to take photos surrounded by these awesome turtles", said Jonny Freedman, a long-time fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. "This is totally awesome. Maybe I can figure out a way to surf, you know like Michelangelo. I want to scream "COWABUNGAAAAAA DUDE!" that would be awesome. I just knew I had to do this cruise it was my calling."
