Lobo began singing solos with the church youth choir at 5, performing for over 4,000 people on several Sundays. At age 8 she held the title of "Best Actress" in the Miss America National Pageant, and at age 10 she acquired a love for writing poetry, winning several contests and landed a motivational speaking engagement with NBA legend Jalen Rose. She recorded her first song at the tender age of 15.
Now Demi is a rising pop star, songwriter and radio personality on Chicago's number #1 radio station for Hip Hop & RnB, 107.5 WGCI. She is the youngest personality at WGCI while being a full-time student at Columbia College Chicago, where she's majoring in Radio. Lobo's rising success has not hindered her from giving back to her community and serving as a role model to young adolescents. She has received recognition and several awards/nominations for her contribution to music as well as to the community. In 2009, Lobo launched Demi 4 Dreams - an organization that provides musical and educational resources for kids, and special projects for the underserved community. Demi was featured on WCIU- TV, highlighting her work with the homeless this past Christmas and she was honored by former Mayor Daley for being an outstanding young citizen. The only other artist to receive this award in the past 15 years is RnB megastar Jennifer Hudson. Demi was also a 2011 recipient of President Obama's Young and Powerful Rising Star award. At the 2011 Chicago Music Awards, Lobo was nominated for 3 awards and she won the coveted "Best Female Vocalist" Award. Other notable nominees of the night were Jeremih, John Blu, and Grammy and Oscar award winning Jennifer Hudson. At the 2012 CMAs, Demi brought home the Pop Entertainer of the Year award. Lobo also performed at several Chicago Public School events and was featured in 11 Public Service Announcements for Washington Elementary School's, "Why Be Free?" anti-drinking/drug awareness campaign. She spoke to the youth and culminated their event with an outstanding performance. Demi Lobo is a great role model who promotes positivity, education, and hard work.
